Role Objective:

The primary responsibility of the Director of Operations is the oversight of flight operations from a regulatory standpoint. This role focuses on the company compliance with international, federal, state, and local regulations, in accordance with the company values and financial targets. The Director of Operations ensures all company flight operations are carried out, in a responsible manner, with the highest regard for safety and compliance with the GOM and GMM. The Director of Operations will implement best practices and processes, while balancing the business needs and operational requirements. The Director of Operations is responsible for, and has the authority to direct, all operational functions from a regulatory standpoint. The Chief Pilot and all regulatory personnel (Assistant Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, and all Pilots) report to and are accountable to the Director of Operations in all matters pertaining to CFR Part 135 operations.

The three core objectives are:

1. Ensure full compliance with all FAA Regulations and other foreign government regulations

2. Support the crew members, with the assistance of the Assistant Director of Operations, in the field with daily questions pertaining to their scheduled flights and issues faced across the operation.

3. Proactively support the Director of OCC in their focus to ensure upcoming trips are scheduled and completed as planned.

Essential Job Tasks:

  • Operational control of company CFR part 135 flight operations.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the FAA Certificate Holding District Office and with the FAA’s Principal Inspectors having certificate responsibility over the companys air carrier operations.
  • Oversight of all company training programs, policies and procedures; reporting to the CEO to ensure all business needs are adequately addressed.
  • Develops and maintains the Operational Specifications for Part 135 Operations
  • Direct ownership of the company General Operations Manual (GOM).
  • Coordinates with the Director of Maintenance and Chief Pilot regarding policies and procedures to ensure all aircraft and flight crew are performing safely and in compliance with GOM and GMM.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration approved drug and alcohol programs.
  • Establish and implement operating practices and procedures in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations which will maintain the highest safety standards and quality of service.
  • Participate in the recruiting, hiring, and training of company personnel according to company and operational requirements
  • Ensuring that all data for crew and certificate related data is up to date in Jet Insight, Wyvern, and Argus at all times.
  • OCC Team Oversight in Jet Insight including Trip Releases, Rest, Flight times and all other regulation.
  • Ensures accuracy of Flight Logs being completed by OCC team.
  • Accountable to schedule and facilitate 3rd party audits including, Wyvern, Argus, and ISBAO with the support of the Director of Safety.
  • Manage the trip release process with the team members who are authorized to release trips.
  • Ensures that all flight operations are conducted safely and in compliance with all Federal Aviation Regulations, Operational Specifications, and Company policies.
  • Communicates with the FAA Flight Standards District Office and the National Transportation Safety Board as necessary.  Files all required reports and documents, thoroughly and timely.

Work Environment:

  • Work is generally performed within an office environment at the company office in Ocoee, Florida with standard office equipment available.
  • Work will also need to be performed from a remote location, as the demands of this role may require work after standard office hours.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 25-50 of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside and outside of the office.
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Constantly operate a telephone requiring oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication.
  • Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently.

Travel:

  • Some travel will be required.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three (3) years proven experience in a similar position.
  • Have at least 3 years supervisory or managerial experience within the last 6 years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted under part 121 or part 135.
  • University Degree in business and masters preferred.
