An exciting opportunity is now available for a Capability Improvement Lead within the Minor Vessel (MV) Capability Lifecycle Manager (CLCM) program based at Henderson WA.  The Capability Improvement Lead is responsible for establishing and implementing data collection processes and conducting investigations to determine trends and potential issues. Working with key stakeholders, the Capability Improvement Lead will also drive continuous improvements to management systems, operational processes and tools, using data and trend analysis. This role provides a unique opportunity to influence change in an exciting environment working alongside the Navy, driving real improvements to the total cost of ownership of the Minor Vessel fleet.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Be the CORE Operating System business partner for the program or enterprise,
  • Manage the implementation and reporting of the program’s contracted Capability, Innovations and Efficiencies (CI&E) services,
  • Assist in establishing processes (including business-to-business) by facilitating workshops to agree responsibilities of all stakeholders, develop flow diagrams, establish definitions, and then document and release the processes,
  • Establish and implement a process review schedule to continuously improve the data collection process to advance process maturity,
  • Establish and implement mitigation strategies to overcome potential problems, where analysis is demonstrating an unfavourable outcome,
  • Liaise and coordinate with all program or enterprise stakeholders on the CI&E program,
  • Promote and develop a continuous improvement culture across the program or enterprise, including conducting training and workshops to drive change. Drive value stream mapping to define “As-Is Analysis” and the transition to future state,
  • Support Kaizen facilitation,
  • Identify and improve the outcomes of operational processes to improve efficiencies.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications 

  • University degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Supply Chain & Logistics or equivalent,
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent experience,
  • Previous experience in a collaborative enterprise environment,
  • Previous experience in a Continuous Improvement, Project Lead or Asset Management position,
  • Strong communication, workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, coupled with the ability to present professionally to various stakeholder groups directly or in virtual meeting forums,
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 Defence security clearance,
  • Availability to undertake travel where necessary to meet project requirements.

A background in the defence industry enhanced by knowledge in military systems, Asset Management, sustainment and operational programs will be highly advantageous.
