De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is seeking highly experienced and versatile Mechanical Systems Engineers to join our Engineering team. The successful candidate will have 10+ years of aerospace engineering experience with a comprehensive understanding of aircraft mechanical systems, from concept through certification and into service support.
This role requires deep technical expertise, systems-level thinking, and a collaborative mindset to develop and support reliable, certifiable, and maintainable systems across a variety of platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the design, integration, analysis, testing, and certification of mechanical systems for De Havilland aircraft programs.
- Apply deep technical knowledge to a wide range of mechanical systems, including but not limited to:
- Environmental Control Systems (ECS)
- Hydraulic Systems
- Pneumatic Systems
- Landing Gear Systems
- Flight Control Mechanisms
- Fuel Systems
- Ice and Rain Protection Systems
- Engine and Nacelle Systems
- Develop system architecture, schematics, and interface control documents.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Structures, Electrical, Avionics, Stress, Materials) and external suppliers to ensure integration and system-level performance.
- Author and review technical documentation including specifications, test procedures, and certification plans.
- Participate in certification activities, supporting communications with regulatory authorities (TCCA, FAA, EASA) to ensure compliance with airworthiness requirements.
- Support issue resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective actions during development, production, and in-service phases.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating lessons learned into future designs and processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in aircraft mechanical systems engineering, preferably with transport-category or regional aircraft.
- Proven expertise in the design, integration, and certification of at least three of the major mechanical systems listed above.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., FAR/CS Part 25, ARP4754A, DO-160, etc.).
- Experience with system modeling, requirements management, and risk assessment tools.
- Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems and engineering change management processes.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional environments and complex technical projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Dash 8 aircraft, Twin Otter and CL415 aircraft design and operation is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of certification planning, compliance documentation, and liaison engineering.
- Familiarity with systems testing environments, including Iron Bird or Integrated Test Facilities.
