Job Summary
Responsible for providing continuing engineering support for Cirrus fleet of SR2X and SF50 aircraft. The primary focus of the Mechanical Sustaining Engineer is to evaluate, and redesign components and systems based on reliability, cost, weight or safety. Also, support resolving mechanical functional issues. Use analysis, bench and flight testing, along with good design practices to determine the root cause and verify solution. This must be done with compliance of the governing FAA regulations and Cirrus specifications. The Mechanical Sustaining Engineer must be able to run medium sized projects, coordinating easily with many other areas of the company and outside vendors.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Integration and testing of mechanical systems and equipment, including:
- Requirements development and traceability
- Research and identification of potential solutions to design objectives
- Detail design and installation
- Test case development, execution, and troubleshooting on both bench and aircraft
- Coordinate design development and system integration within Cirrus and with subcontractors
- Generate high quality reports and test plans that will be used to meet FAR Part 23 requirements
- Investigate and troubleshoot mechanical systems issues reports from field aircraft
- Support the production team in addressing mechanical issues on production aircraft

- Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) required
- 5 years of relevant engineering experience required
- Experience with data acquisition system development and application desired.
- Experience working on aircraft Mechanical Systems, e.g. ECS, I&RPS, Air-conditioning, landing gear assemblies, wheels, tires, brakes, nose wheel steering, etc. preferred
- FAA certification experience preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
- Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team
- Ability to efficiently learn new skills and manage multiple tasks
- Use of lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
