The Systems Engineering and Test Center (SETC) organization is currently hiring a Principal Systems Engineer - Tomahawk External Interfaces to join our Tucson, AZ location. SETC is an exciting and challenging environment where you will have the opportunity to design, develop and partner with multi-disciplines to shape innovative solutions for our customers. The Principal Systems Engineer - Tomahawk External Interfaces provides coordination and support across all aspects of the Tomahawk effort, from production to development. In this role, strong communication skills and systems engineering background will be needed. The selected candidate will be responsible for attending Interface Working Groups (IWG) and coordination with government customers (PMA-280 and PMA-281) along with other government contractors, and assessments of the impact of proposed interface changes. Maintain tracking tools and ensure processes in place are correctly followed.
The Principal Systems Engineer - Tomahawk External Interfaces requires a high level of technical proficiency in the area of systems engineering and external interfaces. The role will include establishing and maintaining relationships with program leadership and the customer community.
What You will Do
- Lead a small team of systems engineers
- Participate in government working groups and Interface Control Working Groups (ICWGs)
- Serve as the point of contact for government customer external interface topics
- Cross-functional collaboration and coordination across all production and development efforts within the Tomahawk portfolio
- Support trade studies
- Review of proposed interface changes, and assessment of impact to missile
- Incorporate approved interface changes into Tomahawk external interface documentation
- and requirements
- Conduct peer reviews
- Manage and maintain documents in accordance with established systems engineering and configuration management procedures
- Interface with program leadership and customers
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and Eight (8) years of engineering experience
- Experience in Systems Engineering, Architecture, and/or Design
- Experience on a Missile Program
- Experience working on a cross-functional team of Systems Engineers and multidiscipline engineers
- Experience leading a functional and/or technical team
- Experience interfacing with customers or suppliers
Qualifications We Prefer
- Post Graduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics and five (5) years’ engineering experience
- Understanding of Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle
- Prior work experience giving technical briefs or presentations with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Performing Functional & Physical Analyses and Allocation
- Maintaining Specifications
- Past work experience conducting trade studies
- Current Top Secret clearance

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
