Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Phantom Works is seeking a Low Observable (LO) Engineering Manager to join our team in Berkeley, MO.
Phantom Works is Boeing Defense’s advanced design division that is responsible for designing, building, and testing the future capabilities for our Nation’s defense. The Phantom Works’ portfolio has grown significantly over the past few years, and we need to grow our team to solve some of the toughest challenges. This position is part of the Phantom Works Fixed Wing Prototype & Test organization supporting multiple proprietary programs.
As the LO engineering manager, you will report to the program’s Survivability senior manager and help lead multi-disciplined configuration design maturation and trade studies, LO integrated system design, integration, and test validation. You will be responsible for managing the staffing, budgets and work scope associated with the identification and management of LO related activities. The successful candidate will oversee a team of highly skilled engineers, coordinate across multi-disciplined engineering IPTs, work with manufacturing to design and build test articles and oversee RCS range testing. This is a great opportunity to work new designs and integration of stealth materials and technologies as part of an integrated product team. The LO engineering manager will apply knowledge of electromagnetic theory & principles to develop new and innovative stealthy systems and components for next generation platforms. This job requires both hands-on and deskwork.
This position is expected to be 100 onsite.
Travel may be required up to 10 of the time; Domestically depending on business needs.
Position Responsibilities:
Provides engineering oversight of technical approaches, products, and processes.
Manages program schedules, budgets and personnel
Supports the program’s Survivability Senior Manager
Manages, develops, and motivates employees.
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.
Basic/Required Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (engineering, mathematics, physics, etc)
Understanding of Low Observables principles
8+ years of experience in an advanced engineering role(s)
Strong project management skills
5+ years of experience in a SAP environment
5+ years of experience leading a team of high performing engineers and scientists
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
10+ years of experience in low observables, radio frequency or infrared system design, and/or survivability technology development
Advanced Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics
LO Development Experience (design, modeling, testing, etc)
Familiarity with EVM and CAM processes and responsibilities.
